Dear ??
    I think you can find neoprene or latex in Italy.  With latex, use a 
"filler" to make it less pliable.  You might check with other puppeteers, 
Dario Tognocchio in Como, for example.  You can also use papier mache in a 
hard mold.  I have never heard of a gesso mold, but with a rubber mold, there 
must be many resins that you could use with fibreglass for the cast itself.  
You will find resins and fibreglass in the supermercado markets for auto body 
repair...such as Bennett stores.   There are many choices depending upon 
size, use and whether or not you wish to animate the cast for eyes, mouth,
