Depending on how readily available you want them to be, you might think 
about something along these lines.
-get a sturdy frame large enough for your figure
-pose the figure on the glass
-cut a piece of muslin the size of the glass, place this over the 
figure (where you would normally place the backing of the frame)
-have a second piece of glass cut to match the glass on the front of 
the frame, then place this on top of the muslin (so you are sandwiching 
the figure and muslin between two pieces of glass)
-now use finishing nails or some other fasteners to hold the glass in 
(taking care to keep the fasteners to the sides of the glass)

Now you have a framed figure that can be hung and viewed from the front 
as a piece of art, but if you take it off the wall, turn it over and 
hold it in front of a light you can see its shadow on the muslin.
