Many scenes from Shakespeare lend themselves to puppetry very well.  We
never did a whole play, but at the University where I taught we used to  do
scenes from Shakespeare about every other year-- they financially supported
much of the rest of the program.  In MacBeth, particularly, the banquet
scene, the witches, the "dagger I see before me" all lend themselves to
puppetry very well.   My favorite scene, however,(created by some of my
students) over the years was the Desdmona murder scene from Othello.  It
was performed my many different students (they tended to take puppets from
our stock, but one of the most effective used scarves controlled by rods
under black light).  It was always chilling.  We never had much success
with the fight scenes.
