Subject: PUPT: RE: Monologues Date: Fri, 13 Sep 2002 15:36:50 -0400 It's interesting that so many puppeteers have used puppets to present classic drama. Our sensei, Paul Vincent-Davis has been doing Shaekspeare scenes with puppets for years now, and is working on a new show GW. But also consider Preston Foerder's several one-man often "one puppet at a time" original shows, like "Works in Regress" A direct contact figure and almost any well-paced monolgue could function as an audition piece. It might be more interesting to do a duologue where the puppet played on part and the performer played the other. First question, should one part or the other be dominant? Then, how do you distinguish such a scene from a venriloquist act? QWould it be better to have two puppets, and keep the performer out of the scene, at least ubtil the end? Good Luck _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --- Personal replies to: "will stackman" <profwill66-AT-hotmail.com> --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Archives at: http://lists.village.virginia.edu/~spoons
