Subject: PUPT: Japanese Puppet Troupe at NW Puppet Center
From: Northwest Puppet Center <nwpuppet-AT-earthlink.net>

NW Puppet Center is pleased to announce the first US performances of
"Strange Adventures on the Road to Kyoto" by the Koryu NIshikawa Kuruma
Ningyo Puppet Troupe from Japan with Master of Shinnai Music & National
Living Treasure, Tsugura Wakasanojo XI.
The puppets used in Koruma Ningyo technique look like traditional Bunraku
puppets, but are manipulated in an ingenious fashion by one puppeteer on a
small rolling stool, who works the puppet's feet with his toes. The Koruma
Ningyo Troupe was designated an Intangible Cultural Asset in 1962.
Performances are September 20 at 8pm & September 21 at 2pm & 8pm at
Northwest Puppet Center in Seattle.
