Theroformable plastic rods are used in a variety of manufacturing processes 
as well.  These require temps above 350 degrees, which could be achieved in 
a shop using a powerful heat-gun.  They are sold as plastic "welding" rods, 
in four foot lengths, in black, white, and natural (milky?), in diameters 
starting at 1/8"
