Finally I can give something back.
I agree that you cant go past a pyro flash. However if you check out your 
local magic shop or an online dealer you may find the product FISM flash by 
John Cornelius to be useful. It is a small device that operates by a push 
button and only requires batteries. It operates some what like a camera 
flash, however it covers 360 instead of the normal 180. The flash is so 
bright that at a short distance it can be blinding for 2 seconds, creating a 
great distraction. If you want more just mail me and good luck with it!
