'We use dragon breath (over a candle flame) for our devils' entrances, which 
is the closest to the old style puppeteers' flashes.  In the old country, 
they use flashpots with a candle in the middle and something similar to 
dragon breath (than no one is willing to disclose the source of) that they 
pipe in through a little hose or surgical tube, getting a beautiful big flash 
in the middle of the stage.

By the way, dragon breath is a wonderful tool to keep intrusive kids away 
from the stage.  And the scorched eyebrows will grow back again. 

While we're at it, I've ran into too many conflicts about our devils to 
mention.  But the kids love them.  Even at the Immaculate Conception School 
in South Dakota.  Maybe that's why the principals, presenters and other 
pee-wees are so petrified about them.
