Subject: PUPT: Re:Lycopodium Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 17:12:11 -0400 Lycopodium, as far as I know, is spores from club moss. These are so fine that a "mist" of them will burn in air at a very low temperature. Chris Hudert is right that the most likely suppliers are scientific supply services. Old time magic stores used to carry this effect. Rosin burns brighter, hotter, and has a more interesting smell. If you live near a pine forest where this moss grows, it's not that hard to collect spores. Dry pores from other moss and probably fern might work as well. Almost any powder will "explode" in a flame; it's a matter of risk assesment. Experiment outdoors and have an extinguisher handy. "That's the way to do it!" _________________________________________________________________ Unlimited Internet access for only $21.95/month.
