Subject: PUPT: Disney Job Update

--part1_183.10742444.2ae30427_boundary

To update you all on the Disney situation, Disney's employee complience dept.
hasn't been able to connect with me re: a request for the policy (puppeteers
must be costume characters) in writing. Perhaps they don't have one.
A former cast member proves my point that the job ad was misleading:

Danny Burge asked:

> Has anyone else heard of this policy?

As one who worked for awhile as a
theatrical technician at WDW, I had
the chance to work alongside some of
the castmembers who performed the
role of "puppeteers". Please note that
I didn't say puppeteers but rather "the
role of puppeteers". At WDW the folks
who used to operate the puppets at
Legend Of The Lion King at the MK
and those who still operate the puppets
at Festival Of The Lion King, Pocahontas
And Her Forest Friends, etc are drawn
from the character department. They
are hourly cast who are utilized in
multiple roles. Thus the requirement
for doing "walk around sets". There
really isn't a position of "puppeteer" at WDW.
At least, I've never encountered one on
the general, daily performance level.
