Subject: PUPT: RE: "Instant" caricature Date: Tue, 01 Oct 2002 16:01:10 -0400 To get your face on a puppet, which will probably be enough of a caricature. 1) Sculpt a neutral head to match the show. Emphasize whatever features you want to make prominent - noses and chins are popular. Make a carveable plaster copy ie mix vermiculite or some other filler into the plaster. 2) Get two slides of yourself, head-on and profile, mug shot style. 3) Project these onto the neutral head and sketch in the details. You'll have to move the head areound unless you made a scale model of yourself. Tilting the projector will create distortions if necessary. 4) Carve away the appropriate areas. You can build up other areas with Model Magic, Paper Clay or whatever. 5) Make a negative mold from the finished sculpture and cast the puppet head. 6) Paint and wig the result to match whatever you use in the show. Haveb't used this for anyone's face but it works for duplicating set props.
