Date: Tue, 8 Oct 2002 00:19:05 -0400 Subject: PUPT: Thunderbirds/Supermarionation Sent this earlier but it doesn't seem to have hit: The "Thunderbirds" tv series was indeed filmed with marionettes on very fine wires. It also used a process called 'Supermarionation' in which the audio was recorded first, and that track was then electronically linked to the mouth control of the puppets so the synching looks really 'real'. The series' creator, Gerry Anderson, did several of these marionette shows in the 60s in England, of which this is my favorite; a couple of others are also available on video here in the US.
