Subject: PUPT: Re: Thunderbirds/Supermarionation Date: Tue, 8 Oct 2002 13:39:22 -0400 Just so you know, Thunderbirds is now broadcast daily on TechTv. This station isn't even listed in our local TV schedule, although I watch it often. Look out for today's episode - The Perils of Penelope. Check out this Tech TV link- all kinds of info on Thunderbirds, Supermarionation, and the new Thunderbirds series in the works. Plus you can download screensavers, icons and wallpapers, and play some games if you've got nothing better to do. http://www.techtv.com/thunderbirds/index.html/ Enjoy, Robin ----- Original Message ----- From: kkt-AT-interport.net Sent: Tuesday, October 08, 2002 12:31 AM To: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Subject: PUPT: Thunderbirds/Supermarionation Sent this earlier but it doesn't seem to have hit: The "Thunderbirds" tv series was indeed filmed with marionettes on very fine wires. It also used a process called 'Supermarionation' in which the audio was recorded first, and that track was then electronically linked to the mouth control of the puppets so the synching looks really 'real'. The series' creator, Gerry Anderson, did several of these marionette shows in the 60s in England, of which this is my favorite; a couple of others are also available on video here in the US.
