Subject: Re: PUPT: Re: music rights?

I have heard from COLA (Colorado Lawyers for the Arts) that the laws and regulations are what Dave brings up.

For any questions, you can probably contact your local Lawyers for the Arts. They give free consultation for those who make less than $26,000.

I have another copywrite question: if you submit photos to a contest (with a valid gallery), who owns the rights of the photos if it doesn't say out right? Can they also legally claim your art if it gets submitted into the show? Probably, legally, you own all rights to your creations, but has anyone had negative or positive experiences with 'contest' exhibitions? Also, why do they charge a submission fee? I have always been told that as an artist or writer to NEVER enter a contest, exhibition, magazine...if they request a fee.

Has anyone formally copywrited or otherwised protected your images and shows?
Ah, I wish they didn't cancel the Business for the Arts class years ago when I was in school... none of these issues are ever addressed in art school or graduate school.
