Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2002 13:53:13 -0400 Subject: RE: PUPT: Disney Job I do think potential discrimination is worth fighting for - even if all you get out it is press... Although these types of restrictions would give me warning bells- would I want to work for a subsidiary of a company that tells me what to wear, how to act & what to think? The one time I was fired my supervisor said that 'while you seem to have great knowledge that we gained from you & you are excellent with customers who seem to really like you; you are too much of an individual & think on your own..." This resulted in how I cleaned jewelery slightly differently than what she told me how to do it. The jewelery came out sparkly still, but that's not the real point. The REAL REASON was that they were doing the booking & if I stayed at least one more week, I would have been eligible for benefits as well as they would have to pay for unemployment if they let me go...but this 'lack of individuality' line is often an excuse to put people in line, to conform and abuse employees. Now, that would really stink if someone moved specifically for a job in a potentially abusive situation. If it doesn't work out, are you going to be stuck at a place you normally wouldn't be? Although for Disney Park, you probably would be out of a living situation as well. (and may not be able to take any companion animals, etc) maybe this was a blessing in disguise...at least, see if you can get Disney to re-imburse you for your plane ticket & lodging.
