The Actor's Fund has an excellent site:  the Artists' Health Insurance Resource Center
http://www.actorsfund.org/ahirc/
It lists health insurance options state by state, including groups to join for lower (ha ha) rates.  You'll still probably be paying an extraordinary amount of money out of pocket, just less extraordinary than otherwise.  That is, until the government wises up and decides that health is a right and not a privilege.  Maybe next administration.
