From: "W & P KREFTING" <kreftingfamily-AT-msn.com> Subject: Re: PUPT: finger holes on papier mache heads Date: Wed, 18 Dec 2002 19:06:49 -0600 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. When making a puppet head for a small hand puppet, I use the foam pipe insulation that comes in tube form, black, a bunch of sticks to a bag. Just cut a piece as long as you need and fasten into the head. This probably doesn't answer the original need, unless you can do some alterations between performances. The gloves might work, but will get quite warm. If the problem is that the finger hole is too big, cutting a finger from the glove or making a small tube of poly foam for your finger might help. If the problem is that the hole is too small for the fingers, well, I think it's back to the shop for Mr. Puppethead (no besmirching intended toward a poster here). <g> Wayne Krefting www.otisrabbit.com wayne-AT-otisrabbit.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Wall Kronenberg To: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 6:16 PM Subject: Re: PUPT: finger holes on papier mache heads When I make a hand puppet, I first take a toilet paper roll (you know, the inside cardboard) and cut it length-wise. I then determine how long I want the neck to be, including the bit that's to go into the Styrofoam, and cut off that length. I roll that piece of cardboard around my finger, then tape it so it remains the size I want. So now I have a small tube. I shove this piece into the Styrofoam ball. I then take it out, and break off the Styrofoam that was in the tube, put glue around the tube and re-insert it into the hole. Then I paper-mache' around the whole bit. I hope I've made myself clear...it's a lot easier to demonstrate that to describe with words alone. At 04:50 PM 12/18/2002 -0600, you wrote: Hi to everyone on this list.
