Subject: PUPT: Puppet Show in South Orange
Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2003 23:57:49 -0400

Heidi Rugg of Barefoot Puppets will be performing Galapagos George at the
Penny Pretzel Playhouse
at the Baird Center in South Orange New Jersey on
Saturday April 12 at 2:00pm

GALAPAGOS GEORGE was inspired by the true story of "Lonesome George," a
giant tortoise who was discovered in 1971 on an island in the Galapagos
where his species was believed to have become extinct. His story is
brought to life with rod and shadow puppets on a set designed with rich
textures and imagery. You will see sea lions, lizards, blue-footed birds,
a dastardly pirate ship and a growing tortoise cavort on an island stage as
George's story unfold. George is just a hatchling when the show starts,
but he sure does get big! This show features the incredible music of
composer, Eric Weinberg, who blends music styles as varied as the wildlife
of this magical archipelago.

This show is an excellent vehicle for learning about man's impact on the
environment for elementary and family audiences. This show was funded in
part by a grant from the Puppeteers of America Endowment Fund.

Tickes are $8.00 each
