This is true and the point about the Russian Ballet being controlled by the
state which funded it is very well made.

Then the result is that a professional needs to master the environment in
which they find themselves...

If I find myself in the middle of a lake, i can curse the water since it
doesn't allow me to walk OR
learn to swim;  master the environment
