OK, Folks:

Just one more.

Someone mentioned durability for "Venitian" type carnival masks earlier.

I forgot to mention that in most of my mask work or puppets that have "open
edges" I have found a way to stabilize them and (hopefully) inmprove their
durability.

Earlier in Celastic and most recently using Vara-Form, and paper with glue, I
worked a wire into edge of the the piece, shaped to conform EXACTLY (so as
not to distort) to the edges of the larger openings, or for masks, to conform
with the entire edge. I just glued it in place using strips of glued paper or
with the Vara-Form, scraps of Vara-Form softened and wrapped onto the head
itself.

Once set, these wires give amazing stiffness to the piece. Protects the edge
as well.

Hope this helps.

Fred
