Again with my longlasting preocupations... I have read once that foam will deteriorate, dry up and crumble. No time period or approximation was mentionned. This was said about matress foam. Right now, I'm building my first foam puppet out of brand new matress foam. I'll glue what needs to be glued with a non-toxic contact cement (yes, I found one!). I'll cover the puppet with a fabric skin. I'll store it inside. Should I keep a foam puppet in a cardboard box? Under an oxygen tent? And post a swarm of super nanobots to guard it against fungi? I can't imagine the Muppets being rebuilt from scratch after a few years. Is it the case? They certainly have the resources and expertise to do so, but somehow it doesn't feel practical to have to do that... If the deterioration problem only occurs after twenty years in a swamp under the sun, with a hundred stray cats using it as a litter box, I'll be reassured.... How old are your oldest foam puppets? Let's see who holds the reccord!
