This is for well maintained puppets; covered foam, out of the sun, not extremely heavily used. Note that the yellowing is unavoidable, and happens very quickly. Another kind of foam is polyethlyene foam. It is a MUCH more inert foam. I don't know if it will last forever, but (from actual experience) if kept away from sun light, I know it will last over 10 years with absolutely no sign of aging. Still as pure white as when I purchased it. The drawback is that is is not nearly as soft as the polyurethane foam, and cannot be used to form smooth round shapes by just gluing seams. It can, however, be heat formed to curved shapes. But, the two kinds of foam cannot really be considered comparable.
