Subject: Re: PUPT: Careers in puppetry?

I made a brief stint attempting to make a career out of puppet building
for video. Actually got a reasonable start, but it wasn't long before I
discovered that I am not the right kind of person for that. The main work
is just getting the work... not puppet making itself.

I also wasn't really driven to perform and certainly was not a "life of
the party" kind of entertainer to go that direction. And again, "the main
work is just getting the work".

Finally, I also realized that I like the fact of a 40-hr week job, with a
regular pay check and benefits. So, puppetry became a serious hobby, and
not a profession.

Puppetry is also the kind of job which can start small while you still
have a "real" job. Then it can grow as opportunity arises (or your ambition
and work causes it to grow).
