Subject: PUPT: Built Puppet Theatres

By our calculations, Puppet Showplace Theatre is one of the four oldest
continuously operating puppet theatres in the country.  Ours was created as
a puppet theatre out of space in what was once an old hotel (now on the
national historic register).

However, what I believe is the oldest continuously operating puppet theatre
in the US is the puppet theatre at Children's Fairyland in Oakland
California, which was built specifically for puppets.  May have been rebuilt
at some point too, if I'm recalling correctly (never a certainty!).

The other two are the Bob Baker Marionette Theatre in Los Angeles, and the
Swedish Marionette Cottage in New York City's Central Park.
