Subject: PUPT: Bulgarian Puppet Theater playing in the Eastern US: Very Interesting!

  Dear Puptcrit Colleagues,
Yesterday members of our group Great Small Works met seven
puppeteers from the Bulgarian group Theatre Tsveta, which is visiting the
U.S. from Sofia, Bulgaria, on a tour organized by Bond Street Theatre of
New York.
They performed some examples of their work, and it is really
interesting; in one piece they transformed everyday Bulgarian household
objects into animals and villagers, and accompanied this by stupendous
singing of Bulgarian folk music, which is itself an amazing treat.
They are performing around the eastern U.S. in the next two
months, and are really worth seeing, I think...
Here is where they will be:
October 11-12: Double Edge Theatre, Ashfield, Massachusetts
October 17-19 and 23-26: Baltimore Theatre Project, Baltimore Maryland
October 30-November 2: Takoma Theatre, Washington, D.C.
November 6-7: Family Arts Center, Monticello, New York
November 9: University of Rio Grande, Ohio
November 12-16: Theatre for the New City, New York, New York.
For more information you can check out Bond Street Theatre's web
site: www.bondst.org.
I feel that this is another rare opportunity for us Americans to
see what's happening outside the boundaries of the U.S., and hope a lot of
us get to see Theatre Tsvete's work.
