Lots of good information and links in these responses -- thanks all! I'm
looking at the Maher course and I think this might be the one I'll run with
-- it's $100 so I'll have to save up a few bucks (I'm buying a monster
puppet first), but it looks like it will be worthwhile.

I've been talking with Pierre Gillette of MonsterPuppets.Com and he's going
to build me a full bodied monster. He seems like a decent sort from our
e-mail exchanges. It will be my first time working with a professionally
designed puppet so I'm very much looking forward to it. The one we're
talking about is his "Lemo" design -- a shaggy monster, teal in color
(there's a thumbnail pic of one at http://www.monsterpuppets.com/id23.html).
I showed my little girl a picture of one of the renditions and she appeared
quite interested. <Grin>

I'll want some arm rods as well but I think I'm going to try to just make
them rather than buy them -- as far as I can tell, they're just wires with a
loop at one end and I have plenty of wire hangers.

BTW, for anyone interested, I picked up some knock-off peeper puppets at
Cappel's here for the kids -- they were a huge hit. I'm still going to get
a few from Hoby for my own kit (these were 35 cents each and solid plastic
-- good for little hands, but not adult hands). My little girl has a ball
playing with it. :)

James
