I try to avoid hot glue...simply because it can soften and let go...
...but I often use it to "tack" something in place while the real glue dries.
I like "Fabric-Tac" and E6000.
(both smelly)

The E6000 might work as well as the hot glue because it's VERY thick 
and sticky.
I don't know if it's available in Europe...but look for a tube glue 
like a silicone adhesive...

You can squirt a bit on the foam base...then drape the fabric...and 
it's sticky enough to hold the folds of fabric... although an 
occasional pin helps...
