I own a simple 11"x17" vacuum former that runs off my shop vacuum. This
vacuum former was geared towards the R/C car hobby market and is certainly
very minimalist. I have to heat the plastic in my home oven.

The sign making industry uses vacuum formers a lot. I know that vacuum
formers are also now commonly in use in the maskot making industry. Many
theaters use them as well.

In Miami, when I found a source to replenish my plastic supply, I ended up
discovering they would do the vacuum forming for me at only $5 + the cost of
materials. The only drawback was that their minimum size was 4' square.
