I have a related question. A friend has been using doll eyes for his
marionettes. On the most recent production, he used some "Doll Maker's
Eye
Wax" which he ordered from the same catalog he gets the eyes from. This
wax
is pushed around the eyeball when you set them in from inside the head.
I was concerned that even minor heat could cause all the puppets to
loose
their eyes. But, he was confident that all those doll makers wouldn't be
using such vulnerable stuff. I privately did a test of the wax on a
radiator... and I am VERY concerned about the eyes coming loose.

Any doll makers out there who can tell me for sure?

Hi, Joe:

My dollmaker friend says eye wax is just a temporary hold -- just to hold
the eye still until you do whatever it is you want to do to the eye. She
agrees with you that your friend's marionettes may well lose their eyes.
