Have been reading this thread and want to say that I was trained (and
worked) as an actor. Without that training don't think I would have become a
viable performer with puppets. Puppetry excited and interested me precisely
because I saw it as a COMPLETE theatre art. Still do after 26 years.  Have
learned more about acting from working with puppets then I did as an actor.
I have seen Mary perform and think she is a fine and dedicated actor.
Totally believe that part of an actor's training should be with and using
puppets. It is like mask work, and as George Latshaw once said it is the
ultimate mask!!!

Personally think that there is no purer theatre art form then
puppetry.....well perhaps musicals :)
