Subject: PUPT: Non toxic contact cement feedback?
Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2004 18:53:56 -0500

HI all.
I finally decided on a way to make the other puppets in the current productio. Most bodies and limbs will be glued sheet foam (half an inch thick).

I am using non toxic contact cement.
Brand: Lepage.
Product: Press-Tite Green.

I have not found much info on this glue and its uses, not even on the company's website.

I have been able to do one foam puppet with it two years ago, but I remember having problem with edges lifting after a while (hours), where tension was too much.(I was using blocks of foam, not sheets)

Should I worry about this tension with the sheets (ex: forcing the flat sheet into a tight circle, by glueing edges together), or is there a way to ease most of it, without having to make 4 or more patterned pieces to form the circle?

Any feedback, comments, and or rants about that glue would be useful.

I'd appreciate any tips to make it work better.
I have a heat gun(adjustable heat from 100F to 1000F) and a hair dryer.

Besides that' I'm tempted to take a few minutes to test Weldbond for glueing sheet foam...
Of course, I'd share the results here, if any...

Thanks!
