From: BiersBlackwood-AT-aol.com Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 16:04:54 EST Subject: PUPT: Master Peter's Puppet Show in Brooklyn My apologies if this has already been posted to the list, but there was an interesting piece on the composer Manuel de Falla and his musical puppet piece, "El Retablo de Maese Pedro" in the Arts & Leisure section of yesterday's New York Times (February 22). The show will be part of a concert dedicated to Don Quixote next Saturday night, at BAM. Below is brief info on the show, though the article in the Times itself is certainly worth seeking out. Saturday February 28: "Master Peter's Puppet Show;" Angel Gil-Ordonez conducts the Brooklyn Philarmonic Orchestra in an evening "Celebrating Don Quixote." Composer Manuel de Falla's take on the famous attack on a marionette performance by Cervantes' mad knight is to be the centerpiece of the show, and all the characters in de Falla's short play will be portrayed by puppets. 8 pm; at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, New York.
