I've been involved in corporate multi-media for thirty years - from way
back when we used to hand cue projectors based on musical or word cues,
through punch tapes, to computer programs operating slide and film
projectors, and more recently, DVD's.
If you are in any kind of a medium sized to large city, look in the yellow
pages under "Audio visual." There will be several sub headings, such as
"Sales and Rental," "Production," and "Manufacturing." Call a production
company and ask to speak to their tech guy. If he is helpful, see if you
can visit him and have him show you what they use. They may even have
older equipment sitting around collecting dust that you might be able to
buy. I didn't really understand what you need from your post, so be sure
to explain yourself clearly.

I used to do some work with a puppeteer who had a three piece band of
computer controlled puppets. There was a bass player, a piano player, and
a lead singer/guitar player. I controlled the body and head of the lead
singer between songs, and would ad lib with the audience. Then when we
went into a song, I'd hit a switch, and a multi track tape player would put
out stereo sound on two tracks, and beep tones on (I think) six other
tracks to control all the animation. During musical riffs, I could take
over control of the lead singer's head and ad lib, then hit a switch just
before the vocals cut in, and the tape would control the entire puppet. I
was a puppeteer with folded arms at those times. What he did was a
brilliant collaboration between art and technology. He and I fell out of
touch when he stiffed me on a script fee, and I think he went out of
business shortly thereafter, however he and his tech people would be a
possible source of info for you, if you can find him. His name is Bob
Elnicky of Elnicky Enterprises, and he was located in Troy Michigan YEARS
ago. It's probably okay to mention my name if you speak to him. You can
tell him I said nice things about him. He'll be shocked.

Good luck.
