That's pretty small - roughly twice the size of the average pencil lead and less than 1/2 the size of a pen or pencil. Brass tubing would work great in this case and you could use some of the same things recommended for Diane and her dragon. If this in your usual style of performing, I imagine you will have a hand on the Bounty and would be able to tap a small bladder or bulb to create the air needed to blow a puff of smoke from the cannon.
