Tim Giugni Il Teatro Calamari PuppetLOVE! experimental political & emerging puppetry April 1-4, 2004 http://www.zeitgeist.net/wfca/PL2004.htm PuppetLOVE! is back! Now in our seventh year, we present two packed evenings of diverse puppetry, three days of puppet skills workshops, a gallery exhibition, video showing and children’s event. Puppet LOVE! offers the opportunity to join the fascination with puppets and to experience a wide variety of puppet styles, sizes and aesthetics. Let us lead you into fantastical worlds filled with lush visual poetry, complex themes, sharp wit and dark humor! This years festival features shadow puppets, humanettes, table top puppetry, mask, object theatre, dance and music. Themes range from overtly political, such as Big Tadoo’s poke at corporate media in their piece We Interrupt This Newscast! to quietly thoughtful, such as Idles Hand’s look at family dynamics in a story of a father and daughter. Run For Your Life! presents a new work that blends humanette puppets with traditional Balinese dance; Il Teatro Calamari puts George Bush to rest, and Signal Light Theatre delves into research about feral children. As special features this years festival offers a free two day Giant Puppet Building Intensive, as well as other workshops and a Saturday afternoon lecture on the History of Radical Puppetry and the emergence of Puppetry as a force in the anti-globalization movement.
