It persists in Canada also.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the Market. Pre-schoolers are a
great target for puppetmaking and performing companies!  Let's keep that
part of the market active, so we can
get kids addicted to puppetry early. I just wish there was more of it, and
of more variety. So far, we mainly see inhabited puppets and "muppet" types
on TV.
It would be great to see a puppet show for the entire family that would
touch the whole universe of puppetry.
