HelpA choke cable from a car has a flexible spring outer and a solid wire actuator, reasonable flexible and not too bad to cut to length, and capable of pushing and pulling a fair weight . . . .and with a bit of clamping here and there a considerable weight . . .available from your nearest car wreckers cheap. . . . .(a bonnet release cable may be just as effective and would be longer). Thinking laterally can the receiver be spring loaded so that the cable releases the tension rather than applies it?
