Andrew, you're right there isn't a comprehensive listing of events around the US for the National Day of Puppetry (April 24, 2004), and there should be!

However, "wishes and fishes . . .", as they say. In all candor, even though the ostensible date for the National Day of Puppetry, sponsored by the Puppeteers of America, is April 24, 2004, due to local schedules/conditions/partnerships with institutions/sunspots/alien landings, this event is held by local guilds and organizations anywhere from April 1 until June 1.

Also we need to be aware that all these programs are drawn together through the strong efforts and voluntary commitments of local members. And puppeteers being notoriously difficult to organize, let alone give a command to, (insert your favorite "herding cats" or Will Rogers' "I don't belong to an organized party; I'm a Democrat" line here) I have only info on a few of the events taking place, though I'm aware of many others.

The best place to find out about National Day of Puppetry events in anyone's neighborhood is to contact their local guild. Check the Puppeteers of America Website (http://www.puppeteers.org/) and click on Guilds by Region. Many guilds have websites that will have information posted on their particular program, too.

Sorry I can't be of more help this year. I do take your point, though, and even the limited number of events submitted should be posted; perhaps that will spur others to send theirs in.

Thanks for the plug for National Day of Puppetry!

Is there a comprehensive directory or listing of events around the U.S. for the National Day of Puppetry?

If there isn't, there should be!!
