From: "Mathieu Rene" <uubald-AT-magma.ca> Subject: PUPT: Painting over contact cement Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2004 01:44:59 -0400 Hi all, got a question for the pros... Spent the entire day on my latest prop (a four feet high alien for a tv episode) and am barely able to think in other subjects than tape, tape some more, and oh my god I hope I have enough tape. (skin is white hockey tape. Paints easily, and provides interesting wrinkles. Then two coats of latex interior paint. However, somebody told me he uses contact cement as an undercoat for difficult to paint surfaces. I haven't seen the result, so I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this method. I thought this undercoat would help in preventing the corners of the hockey tape to peel overtime, and serve as a good binder between the touching layers of tape. The contact cement I have is Press-Tite Green, by Lepage. Any ideas/ warnings/apocalyptic predictions related to this method? Thanks! Mathieu René Créaturiste Marionnettes, masques, etc...
