Dear Gloria,
 
Nothing could be easier.  Put a string on the top of the spline of the book 
to make it stand up. Put another on the cover that opens and run the string 
down thru the pages to where you wnat it opened. Even with out a controller. 
these two strings will do the trick.  But if you want more control over the book, 
place a secon string on the back cover near the open edge. the spine string 
and the back cover string will allow the book to stand or lay flat...just use 
the stage floor to help make it lie flat in the direction you desire....put the 
two strings on a single long dowel...tie the strings to either end of the 
dowell.  put the "Opening the book" string in the middle, with a little slack.  
You probalby won't find a book with this information, you must do a bit of 
experimenting yourself.  Jim Gamble
