The First Prize winner will receive a free membership to the Asian American Writers' Workshop. CONTEST GUIDELINES: 1. One submission per individual. 2. Submissions should consist of one short story or extract from a longer work 1,500-1,800 words in length. 3. Entries should be unpublished works and should not have won previous awards or contests. SUBMISSIONS SHOULD INCLUDE: A. Three identical typed copies of the entry on white 8.5"x11" paper. Each copy should be stapled in the upper left hand corner. Each page of each copy should have your Social Security Number in the upper right hand corner. YOUR NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR ON ANY MANUSCRIPT. B. A cover letter including your name, Social Security Number, telephone number, address, and a brief biographical statement, including publication or award history, if applicable. C. The following typed, signed statement: I warrant that I am the sole author of, and have exclusive rights to the enclosed Material. I hereby indemnify Katha: The Indian American Fiction Contest (Katha) and its sponsors from any and all liability and responsibility for loss of, damage to, preservation, or return of the enclosed Material. I also release one- time publication rights for the enclosed Material or any segment or portion thereof to Katha and its sponsors, and authorize Katha to use my name and work in any publicity or promotions for Katha. D. A self-addressed, stamped envelope for notification of results. Submissions not following these guidelines will be automatically disqualified >from the contest.
