AREA STUDIES

Gettysburg College is seeking applications for a visiting scholar to
participate in the College's 1997-98 South Asian Area Studies Program.  The
visiting scholar will teach three courses each semester in his or her
specialty and participate in the year-long Area Studies program of visiting
lecturers and films.  Expertise is welcomed in any field related to South
Asia, especially in the areas of literature, anthropology, political
science, women's studies, economics or environmental studies.  Length of
appointment is one year beginning August 26.  Applications received by
January 20, 1997, will receive fullest consideration.  Salary is
commensurate with experience.  Housing is provided.  Please send letter and
