Subject: Guess What?

Hey friends,

You'll never guess who I saw on t.v. the other day. Our old friend, Tom
Metzger. He's like this big time skinhead leader or something. Yikes.
And let me tell you, it wasn't pleasant putting a face to the name.

Anyways, on a less nauseating note: I have been trying to spread the word
about our list. So hopefully we will see more activity. In the meantime,
keep sending your pieces (those of you who have been and those who have
not yet...) I know that for me at least, it really gives me inspiration
to see other people's writing. And I love reading South Asian lit, but
it's easy to exhaust what's available, before finding something new. So
this has been great for me. To have fresh, new things to read and think
about all the time. And this feels so much more personal too, so it means
that much more. I haven't been preparing pieces outside of on-line time.
I've just been logging on and writing whatever comes to mind, so far.
It has really helped, just to have a place and time to do that. It takes
some of the pressure off, and makes me feel good that I've managed to get
something out. I hope anyone else out there who is feeling scared,
self-critical, too busy or whatever might give this a try too.

I'm going to a wedding in New Jersey this weekend. Maybe I'll share the
experience with you all when I get back.

-Lakshmi
