I think the poem is beautiful, Radhika, but I would like to point out
that Mother Teresa was not an "other."  She was a saintly woman of
European roots who made India her home and the cause of India's poor and
diseased a manifestation of Christ in her life.  Just so we're clear on
that.  I don't think the western world would have been as attentive had
she been truly, racially, an "other," as some of Indian origin also
religiously dedicated to India's orphaned poor.  Lest someone worry that
I'm not paying my due respects to Mother Teresa, please rest easy.  I
am. But I think it's important to acknowledge facts.  And I wept at the
loss of both humanitarians.
