Introducing, Sophie's Wind, a new literary magazine

Sophie's Wind is a new literary magazine looking for daring, experimental, and high quality fiction, poetry, and literary non-fiction, as well as original "hybird" writing that exceeds, explodes, or rest some place in-between, these traditional literary genres.

A Call for Submissions, Premier Issue: "Windy Borders, Bordering Winds"
Submission Deadline: November 15, 1999

Sophie's Wind is seeking literary submissions for our premier Winter/Spring 2000 issue that are inspired by the theme "Windy Borders, Bordering Winds." Writers are encouraged to interpret the theme(s) of winds and borders as wildly and imaginatively as possible, and of course, to take their ideas in any directions they desire. All submissions should be original and previously unpublished in English. Poetry may be up to 8 pages per entry. All other submissions must be double-spaced and no more than 5,000 words in length. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable (limit of 3 per person). Please include a coversheet with your name and a brief biographical description - a separate coversheet is required for each submission. All publication decisions will be made by blind review - make sure your name does not appear on any page other than the coversheet. In addition, along with the "hard copy" you will need to submit an electronic version, either on a 3.5" floppy disk along with your submission (Microsoft word format) or by e-mail attachment to <sophieswind-AT-hotmail.com> (send using either Microsoft Word or Lotus). The postmark deadline is November 15, 1999.

Results will be mailed eight to ten weeks after the submission deadline. Notification is by SASE only. Submissions without a SASE will not be considered for publication and will be discarded. If you wish to have your complete manuscript returned, be sure that your SASE is of sufficient size and that it has adequate postage.
