" Postcolonial ventriloquism has even ventured to deprive subalterns of
speech even though in some cases the choice of not-speaking can be
deemed a proactive mode of subversion. Speaking positions are, after
all, also axes of struggle; language is multiaccentual precisely because
the speaker's silence is constituted by voices coming from within and
without from all directions. This resonance configures the vectors of
emergencies, interventions, and breakthroughs of those hitherto
repressed and excluded."

E. San Juan Jr. "Beyond Postcolonial Theory" pg 8
