to have children 
grow up
on you


speeding tickets,
higher insurance rates
fear for his future
career choices
relationship choices

heart-in-my-throat for 
fear

as each grey hair has a story to narrate...

as he packs up to leave
wanting to be free of nagging parents

oh why oh why did i let him choose his own clothes
at 3?

why did i allow him to 
say no
at 2?

why did i even let him 
walk
talk
or 
crawl?

those of you with babies on your hands
let this be a lesson to you...
