Tom, every piece of art is abject; but I thought we were trying to
discuss the specific experiences associated with popups?  I am not
sure where "great cultural achievements" and regression come in. 
To me, this level of discussion is too general to be useful. 
Popups are different than, say, Beuys' fat scupltures.  I am
interested more in the differences than in the commonalities.
