People on this list with access to BBC world cable TV may be interested
to know that their 'Hard talk' segment is currently running an interview
with Tariq Ali.

A couple of interesting points to come out of it were :

He talks about the "puritanism" of British socialists, saying that
whilst in
France socialists and left wingers saw no reason not to "enjoy
champagne" and
"visit the opera", in Britain (he says) you cannot do these and still be
considered a
genuine socialist....

When I tuned in he was mentioning the concept of Thatcherism in left
wing
government....   ^ . ^
