Sri Lanka says journalists held for rebel links

Sri Lankan police have detained two Tamil journalists for
suspected links with the Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam rebel group, the media minister said
Thursday. "Defense authorities have
told us that both are detained not because of what they have
written but because of suspected links
with the LTTE," Mangala Samaraweera told a news conference.
The defense ministry said
Wednesday the journalists, both working for the
Tamil-language newspaper Veerakesari, had
been arrested by the police Terrorist Investigation Division.
